The Spatial Effect of Digital Elements in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Empowering the Upgrading of Industrial Structure
Empowering digital elements has become a new way for the industrial upgrading in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. However, there is currently a lack of in-depth research on the spatial effects generated by the digital elements under the distance characteristics such as geography, economy, and digital new infrastructure construction(hereinafter referred to as"new infrastructure").To provide theoretical support for the high-quality development of industries in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle at the policy level,a digital element evaluation system is constructed from the dimensions of digital innovation environment, digital innovation technology, digital human capital, digital labor force, and digital capital.Using spatial panel data from the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle from 2012 to 2021,the internal growth model based on the distance characteristics of geographical, economic, and digital new infrastructure is established, and a spatial econometric model is employed to empirically analyze the relationship between digital elements and industrial structure upgrading in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. The results show that the digital elements and industrial structure upgrading of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle have endowment differences and spatiotemporal agglomeration characteristics, and the agglomeration difference between the regions is gradually expanding.Under the three distance characteristics, the central city industries of"Chengdu+Chongqing"show significant ecological, clustering, and forestation characteristics, while the industrial development in other regions shows significant specialization characteristics, with an increasing spatial dependence on the central cities of"Chengdu+Chongqing".In terms of empowering industrial structure upgrading, under three distance characteristics, digitalization should bring spatial effects within the domain and spatial spillover effects outside the domain, while resource endowment has a spatial promoting effect within the domain and a spatial inhibiting effect outside the domain;under the condition of geographical distance characteristics, digital technology innovation has a spatial inhibitory effect on the outside of the domain;and under the condition of digital new infrastructure distance characteristics, digital human capital has a spatial inhibitory effect. In addition, the dynamic spatial panel model can correct the overestimation of spatial effects produced by the static spatial panel model.Based on the above results,it is recommended to strengthen the coordinated development between Chengdu and Chongqing, form a gradient division of labor pattern of industries…in the two places, and realize the"dual core"of Chengdu-Chongqing…driving the development of adjacent regions.
