As interdisciplinary research continues to deepen and expand,the paradigm of scientific research innovation is constantly changing.The traditional post-event evaluation model for basic research can no longer meet the new requirements posed by the changes in the innovation paradigm for the evaluation of basic research in our country.Exploring new theories and modes of basic research assessment to adapt to the new situation of scientific and technological innovation development has become a major demand for improving the assessment system of basic research and guiding the high-quality development of basic research in China.In response to these needs,the article introduces the innovative concept of"innovation potential of basic research".It forwardly discusses the importance of constructing a theory and evaluation system for basic research innovation potential in improving China's basic research evaluation system and promoting the development of basic research.Additionally,the paper analyzes existing problems in China's research on basic research innovation potential and provides corresponding suggestions,aiming to offer reference and guidance for future systematic research in this field in China.
