The Impacts of Ideas,Methods, and Procedures of University Teachers'Scientific Research Evaluation on Teachers'Scientific Research Behavior from the Perspective of Institution Satisfaction
The key to improving the competitiveness of university research is to increase the willingness of university teachers to engage in research and innovation, and to encourage university teachers to develop habits of positive research behavior.A good research evaluation system for university teachers can stimulate teachers'willingness to conduct research and sustainable research behavior,as well as increase the competitiveness of university research and the overall strength of the university. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the relationship and mechanisms between the research evaluation system in universities and the research behavior of universities'teachers. In this study,446 teachers from eight different types of universities are surveyed by questionnaire, and multiple linear regression and bootstrap tests are used to analyze the influence of university teachers'research evaluation concepts, methods, and procedures on teachers'research behavior, and to test the mediating role of satisfaction with the research system in this process. It is found that the developmental evaluation concept,quality-oriented evaluation methods, and democratic evaluation procedures have a significant positive effect on university teachers'positive research behavior, and research system satisfaction plays a partial mediating effect;the outcome-based evaluation concepts,quantity-oriented evaluation methods, and authoritative evaluation procedures of university teachers'research evaluations have a significant positive effect on their negative research behavior, and system satisfaction plays a partial mediating effect in outcome-based evaluation concepts,quantity-oriented evaluation methods, authoritative evaluation procedures, and university teachers'negative research behavior. However, there is no mediating effect in outcome-based evaluation concepts and negative research behavior.Satisfaction with the research system plays a partial mediating effect in quantitative evaluation methods, authoritative evaluation procedures, and negative research behavior of university teachers, but there is no mediating effect in outcome-based evaluation concepts and negative research behavior. Therefore, the study suggests that higher education institutions should establish an evaluation concept that focuses on developmental evaluation and is complemented by outcome-based evaluation. On the other hand, adjust the research evaluation system in due course, and pay more attention to the quality of teachers'scientific research achievements. Also, democratic evaluation procedures should be employed to stimulate teachers'motivation to participate in research evaluation.
