The Factors Influencing Enterprises'Willingness to Conduct Basic Research:An Empirical Examination Based on High-Tech Enterprises in Guangdong Province
Strengthening corporate basic research is an important part of achieving a high level of technological self-reliance in the country.Relying on the data from a questionnaire survey conducted in 2023 on the situation of basic research conducted by 1 923 high-tech enterprises in Guangdong Province,an analysis model is constructed to carry out the research.It is found that the main internal driving force affecting the willingness of enterprises to conduct basic research is the acquisition and absorption of external knowledge,while the main external driving forces are having basic research partners,peer competition pressure,policy support,and the difficulty of purchasing new technologies.There are significant differences in the factors influencing the willingness of state-owned,private,and foreign-invested enterprises to conduct basic research.The key influencing factors for the willingness to conduct basic research are the internal innovation soft environment for state-owned enterprises,the external knowledge acquisition and absorption capacity for private enterprises,and the basic research technical conditions for foreign-invested enterprises.Accordingly,the following suggestions are put forward:to establish and improve the regular working mechanism,strengthen the awareness and confidence of enterprises in conducting basic research;to expand the"circle of friends"for corporate basic research and enhance the external driving force for enterprises to conduct basic research;to encourage enterprises to strengthen the conditions for conducting basic research and stimulate the original driving force for enterprises to conduct basic research;to build a three-dimensional policy system to support corporate basic research and solve the rear worries for enterprises to conduct basic research.
