Research on the Path for Enhancing Regional Scientific and Technological Innovation Performance from the Configuration Perspective:A Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis Based on 30 Regions in China
Regional scientific and technological innovation performance is influenced by multiple levels of factors,but most relevant research has not considered the synergetic matching and linkage effects between multi-level factors.The intrinsic mechanism of multi-level factor combination for regional scientific and technological innovation performance still needs to be explored.Therefore,from the perspective of configuration,taking 30 regions in China as the research subjects,based on six antecedent variables at the environmental,organizational,and resource input levels,this paper employs the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method(fsQCA)to explore diverse paths driving regional scientific and technological innovation.The research results indicate that,individual factors do not constitute necessary conditions for high innovation performance in regional science and technology,and high innovation performance results from synergetic effects of multiple factors.Seven configuration paths driving high regional technological innovation performance are identified,with government support,R&D capital investment,and R&D personnel investment playing a core role.There are two configuration paths for non-high innovation performance,which exhibit a causal asymmetry with the paths leading to high regional technological innovation performance.Additionally,there is a certain degree of substitution relationship between different configuration conditions.Based on this,suggestions are proposed from the perspectives of fiscal investment in science and technology,R&D capital investment,and the introduction and cultivation of research talents,etc.,to promote the performance of regional scientific and technological innovation for various provinces.
