Digital Transformation Model and Its Driving Mechanism of Manufacturing Industry Cluster in China
The rise of digital technology has brought new development momentum to various industries.Manufacturing industrial cluster is the significant foundation of the development and employment of China's manufacturing industry.Under the background of the new generation of technological revolution, digital transformation has become one of the important ways for cluster to optimize, upgrade and achieve sustainable development.Based on the biological community types in ecology, manufacturing industry clusters are categorized into symbiotic clusters, epiphytic clusters, and parasitic clusters. The digital transformation models of each cluster are summarized as follows:the digital transformation model for symbiotic industrial cluster is driven by"market demand driven+government support";the digital transformation model for epiphytic industrial cluster is driven by"technological innovation attracted+government support";the digital transformation model for parasitic cluster is led by core enterprise leader.Furthermore, the bicycle industry cluster in Pingxiang county of Hebei province, the textile and garment industry cluster in Guangzhou,as well as the food industry clusyer in Longyao county in Xingtai city of Hebei province, are taken as cases for analysis. In addition, the driving mechanism of the digital transformation of industrial clusters is revealed from four aspects of market demand, government policies, technological innovation, and core enterprises. It is argued that these aspects play distinct roles in the transformation process,of which market demand serves as a driving force, while government policies provide support. Moreover, technological innovation acts as an attraction, and core enterprises serve as an incentive. The government should, based on its own circumstances, provide guidance and support for the digital transformation of symbiotic and parasitic industrial clusters composed of small and medium-sized enterprises.
