Cognitive Analysis of Metaphorical Winter Olympic Sports Terms within the Extended Conceptual Meta-phor Theory Framework
In this paper,we extracted 3169 terms of Winter Olympic sports as the original corpus from the V3 online platform of the Winter Olympics Terminology released by the Beijing Organizing Committee.Utilizing the MIP metaphor identification procedure,411 metaphorical Winter Olympic sports terms were identified.Employing the Extended Conceptual Metaphor Theory as the theoretical framework,we explored the cognitive understanding of metaphorical Winter Olympic sports terms at three levels:subindividual,su-praindividual,and individual. The aim is to reveal the cognitive processes, mechanisms, and integration involved in acquiring con-cepts and establishing meaning for metaphorical terms. On one hand, this research enhances the comprehensibility of Winter Olympic sports terms;on the other hand,it provides references for language services in winter sports events, contributing to the popularization of ice and snow sports and elevating China's international discourse power in winter sports games.
