Experimental Study on Ultimate Flexural Capacity of Lipped C-shaped Stainless Steel Beams with Longitudinal V-shaped Stiffener
To investigate the influence of longitudinal stiffening ribs on the web of cold-formed thin-walled C-shaped stainless steel beams on their ultimate flexural capacity, four sets of specimens were examined under controlled testing conditions, taking into account variations in web height,height-to-width ratios, and rib sizes. The findings demonstrate that ribbing the web of the lipped C-shaped stainless steel beam can effectively increase the ultimate flexural capacity by suppressing web bulging.Increasing the size of the stiffening ribs will slightly enhance the ultimate flexural capacity but also slightly reduce the stiffness.Increasing the web height of lipped C-shaped stainless steel beam can significantly improve the ultimate flexural capacity and resistance to deformation.
