The measurement technology based on the laser tracker method was introduced when the measuring process was developed in the manufacturing of lifting appliances.Subsequently,a method of measuring the main beam camber using the laser tracker was proposed when roughly analysing the fundamental principle of the measurement. Moreover, the expanded uncertainty of the single-point measurement using a laser tracker without moving the laser track was approximately 0.294 mm in the range of 40 m based on theoretical calculations.Simultaneously, the repeated single-point measurement accuracy of the laser tracker and single-point maximum offset distance at different ranges of various conditions were also measured. It was observed that the maximum single-point offset distance at the precise and fast-measurement modes is both within 0.05 mm.Additionally, the measurement accuracies of the laser tracker at five different measurement stations within the measuring distance of 40 m were in accordance with the standard requirement.Lastly, the main beam of the crane camber was measured.By comparison, the laser tracker's measured results were consistently superior to those of the traditional method, although both methods produced similar average values.
