Customer Managerial Myopia and Supplier Risk-taking——Empirical Evidence Based on Textual Analysis
We adopt textual analysis to examine how customer managerial myopia affects supplier risk-taking.We find that customer managerial my-opia reduces supplier risk-taking,indicating that suppliers can perceive risk signals from customers. This effect is more pronounced when suppliers have lower network centrality, occupy fewer structural holes, and have closer geographical proximity.Channel tests show that suppliers conduct risk management through increasing supplier defensive distance, decreasing capital expenditure, and reducing economic dependence on myopic customers. This paper enri-ches literature on dynamically adjusting firms'business decisions in supply chain risk scenarios.
