The system of science popularization awards plays an important role in promoting the populariza-tion of science.The governmental science popularization awards have been an essential part of the awarding sys-tem.This paper comparatively analyzes the general situation,categories,range,awardee,grade,time period and other fields by investigating the national and provincial comprehensive award policies.The results indicate that with the guidance and support of governmental science popularization award policies,considerable progress has been made in the construction of basic award pattern,the formation of positive brand effect and the promotion of popularization of science.However,because of the insufficient supply of financial support and policy support,there are deficiencies including insufficient reward,limited scope and weak influence.Therefore,it is recommen-ded that governmental science popularization awards should be perfected by improving the reward policy system,strengthening effect and widening view sight,and effectively pushing the popularization of science to prosperity and development.
