"Pain Is Medicine":A Review on the Dual Effects of Entrepreneurial Failure Grief Based on the Continuing Bonds Theory
Under the background of the nationwide initiative of"mass entrepreneurship and innovation",an increasingly number of people are engaged in entrepreneurial activities. After experiencing entrepreneurial fail-ure,they would often have a series of grief and be affected by it.Therefore,it is particularly important to study this kind of grief.Relevant review research also has practical significance and value. The current academic re-search on entrepreneurial failure grief mainly focuses on the definition of related concepts, the causes of entre-preneurial failure grief and the factors that affect entrepreneurs'perception of grief, the negative effects of entre-preneurial failure grief and the recovery of grief, and the initial understanding of the positive effects of entrepre-neurial failure grief.Through systematic combing, this paper concludes that the grief caused by entrepreneurial failure does not have to be eliminated owing to the fact that it is both"destructive"and"constructive".Howev-er,most of the existing research focuses on the negative effects of entrepreneurial failure grief and grief recover-y.Most of the established models are also aimed at eliminating the grief of entrepreneurial failure, and there is a lack of attention to its positive effects and related theoretical research. This is not conducive to a comprehen-sive understanding of the nature of entrepreneurial failure grief in the context of such a high rate of entrepreneur-ial failure. This paper introduces the continuing bonds theory in psychological research to study the positive effect of entrepreneurial failure grief, and elaborate its applicable reasons. It is further suggested to study the positive effect of entrepreneurial failure grief from this perspective in the future,in order to fully understand the grief caused by entrepreneurial failure. This paper provides a complete thinking framework and reference for fol-low-up researchers, and better guide entrepreneurs to deal with entrepreneurial failure grief and entrepreneur-ial activities.
