The improvement of carbon emission efficiency is an important prerequisite for achieving China's"dual carbon goals".The coordinated agglomeration of manufacturing and service industries can not only bring about scale effects but also promote structural optimization and quality improvement, directly affecting the re-gional carbon productivity level. This research, taking the coordinated agglomeration of manufacturing and pro-ducer services as the entry point, utilizes panel data of 30 Chinese provinces from 2002 to 2022 to examine the mechanisms and dynamics of the impact of the agglomeration on carbon productivity. The research findings re-veal that:(1)There isa"U"-shaped relationship between the coordinated agglomeration of the manufacturing and service industries and carbon productivity,a conclusion that remains robust after considering various tests;(2)The coordinated agglomeration of manufacturing and service industries can not only directly affect carbon productivity but also indirectly exert a significant positive impact on carbon productivity through technological in-novation and industrial structure rationalization;(3)There are significant heterogeneity characteristics in the di-rect impact of the coordinated agglomeration of manufacturing and service industries on carbon productivity. The improvement in carbon productivity caused by such agglomeration is much higher in the eastern and central re-gions than in the western regions.
