Experiments on Mechanical Properties for Main Root of Yunnan Panax Notoginseng
It is very important for the design,dynamic simulation and mathematical modeling of shredder of pa-nax notoginseng to research the mechanical properties of their main roots.In this paper,mechanical properties of center xylem and outer skin of main roots are tested experimentally by food texture analyzer universal materials test machine.The data are then analyzed by mathematical statistical analysis method.Results show that the aver-age values of radial compression strength,axial compression strength,axial shear strength,radial shear strength, axial elastic modulus,radial elastic modulus,axial shear modulus and radial shear modulus of center xylem are 21 .07,27.80,9.58,7.06,93.46,1 92.59,44.68 and 50.69 MPa respectively,and the average values of ra-dial compression strength,axial compression strength,axial shear strength,radial shear strength,axial elastic modulus,radial elastic modulus,axial shear modulus and radial shear modulus of outer skin are 20.27,1 7.87, 9.08,9.1 9,246.48,1 1 3.51 ,20.84 and 74.84 MPa respectively.In summary,center xylem and outer skin of Yunnan panax notoginseng main root can be considered as anisotropy material,and radial shearing way is easier to make main roots fracture.
