Fifteen compounds are isolated from the 80% methanol-water extract of the seeds of Vitex negundo var.cannabifolia.Based on the phytochemical and spectroscopic evidences,their structures are then identified as vitedoin A (1),vitexdoin A (2),negundin B (3),vitrofolal F (4),vitexdoin C (5),vitrofolal B (6),vitexdoin D (7),vitrofolal E (8),vitexdoin B (9),vitrofolal A (10),detetrahydroconidendrin (11),4-(3,4 -dimethoxyphenyl)-6-hydroxy-7-methoxy-naphtho [2,3-c] furan-1 (3 H)-one (12),vitedoamine A (13),vitelignin A (14),and paulownin (15),respectively.Compounds 4,6,8 and 10 are isolated from this plant for the first time.Free radical scavenging activity of the isolated constituents is investigated in vitro by using DPPH assay.The results show that the isolated compounds generally have antioxidant activities,especially compounds 2,4 and 7,which exhibit significant antioxidant activities.
