Current research status of oral human papillomavirus(HPV)infection
Epidemiologic evidences have demonstrated that the oral cavity is a reservoir for human papillomavirus(HPV).Multiple transmission routes including horizontal transmission and vertical transmission increase the incidence of oral HPV infection.Low-risk HPV may cause benign lesions of the oral mucosal, and persistent infection with high-risk HPV is an important risk factor for the devel-opment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. At present, the research on oral HPV infection in China is not in-depth,and Chi-nese people have insufficient understanding of relevant knowledge, which is not conducive to the development of related disease preven-tion and treatment. In this context, this article reviews the current research status of oral HPV infection,in order to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of oral HPV infection in China.
