Progress of Anterior Repositioning Splint Therapy for Disc Displacement-related Temporomandibular Disorders
Currently, the prevalence of temporomandibular joint disorders is high and affects the quality of life of patients,of which anterior disc displacement(ADD)of the temporomandibular joint(TMJ)accounts for a large proportion.Anterior repositioning splint(ARS)is considered to be one of the effective conservative treatments for ADD,which effectively relieves clinical symptoms such as pain and popping, and improves the range of motion of the jaw.Due to the wide application of this therapy, its exact mechanism has attracted increasing attention.Howev-er,the existing operation methods of ARS,its therapeutic mechanism, and its long-term efficacy are not yet final-ized.In view of the current different opinions on ARS treatment, this review attempts to provide research advances in ARS-related treatments to help clinicians understand and select appropriate operational methods.
