Facial harmony has long been a primary goal of orthodontic treatment,with the profile closely linked to the sagittal position of the upper jaw.Thus,during orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning,evaluating and determining the sagittal position of the maxilla is crucial.Andrews'six elements of orofacial harmony,based on the natural head position,are valuable tools in esthetic evaluation.Among these elements,Element Ⅱ,which correlates the forehead with the sagittal position of the maxilla,serves as a reliable index for assessing and locating the maxillary sagittal position.This article reviews the research progress of Andrews'six elements and their association with the sagittal position of the maxilla.
