This study systematically examines the progression and emerging trends in academic research related to physical education admissions and sports skills assessments in China's higher education sector.Employing bibliometric techniques,it aims to outline historical development and predict future academic directions.Bibliometric analysis was conducted on 52 articles published between 1999 and 2023,sourced from the CNKI database using search terms"unified physical exams in higher education"or"sports skill evaluation"or"physical education entrance examination".Tools such as Citespace 6.2R6 and Vosviewer 1.6.20 were utilized to quantitatively analyze the literature, constructing networks of author and institutional collaboration, examining citation patterns, and synthesizing keyword co-occurrence matrices. Results show that the examination of the literature resulted in a compendium of 52 scholarly works that met the selection criteria. The research indicates a consistent academic interest in the evaluation of sports skills for physical education admissions in higher education institutions-evident through a steady stream of literature.Despite this attention, there is a noted lack of cohesive collaboration among researchers, signifying a need for more integrated scholarly efforts. The themes identified are concurrent with educational policy reforms and pedagogic innovation, with a focus on sports skill evaluations at the core of these discussions.Future academic work should investigate in greater depth the substance, methods, formats, and evaluative frameworks of sports skills assessments associated with physical education admissions in higher educational institutions. The field of educational metrics and evaluation is poised to become a burgeoning trend in scholarly inquiries.
