A research on mineralogy and silver recovery technology of the zinc ore leaching tailing from a zinc processing plant in Yunnan,China
The zinc ore leaching tailing obtained from a zinc hydrometallurgical plant in Yunnan Province,China has been selected as a research object in this paper.Various analytical techniques, including chemical multi-element analysis,MLA,and scanning electron microscopy, have been employed to comprehensively study the chemical composition, mineralogical composition, dissociation characteristics of major minerals, symbiotic relationship, particle size distribution, and occurrence state of silver minerals of the leaching tailing. The research findings reveal that the zinc leaching tailing contains 280 g/t of silver, and main mineral of zinc-hematite.Moreover,the major metallic minerals are characterized with limited individual dissociation and fine particle size distribution.Considering properties of the original zinc ore,a closed-circuit flotation process incorporated with one-stage roughing,two-stage scavenging, and two-stage cleaning has been implemented to treat the zinc ore leaching tailing. As the resulte,a silver concentrate with an impressive silver grade of 6 096.26 g/t at a silver recovery rate of 75.22%has been obtained. This demonstrates an effective method for recovering silver minerals from the zinc ore leaching tailing.
