Efficient Utilization of Iron Tailings by Using the Suspension Magnetization Roasting-Magnetic Separation Method
The iron tailings is a kind of largely output and largely stored industrial solid waste. The long-term stored iron tailing has caused a huge impact on the ecological environment. In order to realize the sustainable utilization of resources and further to recover the valuable element of iron in the iron tailings,a process of suspension magnetization roasting-magnetic separation has been proposed to process a limonite-dominated iron tailings in the Dali area,Yunnan Province based on the chemical composition analysis,XRD analysis and particle size analysis.Under the optimum experimental condition with CO concentration of 30%,total gas volume of 450 ml/min,reducing agent ratio of CO/H2=1:3,roasting temperature of 520 ℃,roasting time of 20 min,first-stage magnetic field intensity of 1600 Gs and second-stage magnetic field intensity of 2000 Gs,the tailings sample wtih Fe2O3 grade of 23.50%was processed using the above method. The obtained processing product(iron concentrate)has Fe2O3 grade of 57.37%at recovery rate of 59.89%and yielding rate of 30.15%.Therefore,the efficient resource utilization of the iron tailings has been realized.
