Resources of Co,Ga and Sc of V-Ti magnetite deposits in the Panxi area within the Emeishan Large Igneous Provence and their integrated utilization potentials
The Panzhihua,Hongge,Baima, and Taihe deposits in the Panxi area within the inner zone of the Eemsishan Large Ingenious Provence contain about 10 billion tons of V-Ti magnetite ores,in which there are 15.8 million tons of V2O5 and 0.87 billion tons of TiO2,as well as abundant rare metals including Co,Ga,Sc,Cr,and so on.Although V and Ti in the magnetite ores have been gradually utilized since 1980-1990's,other elements including Co,Ga,Sc,and Cr have not been comprehensively utilized yet.Tailings of these deposits, accumulated in the past decades, contain great amount of metals including V,Ti,Co,Ga,Sc,Cr,and so on.The recently obtained electron microprobe and LA-ICPMSin-situ analytical data of magnetites, ilmenites and clinopyroxenes from the layered intrusions in those deposits have been systematically analyzed in this paper. It is concluded that Ga and Cr are dominantly contained by magnetite,Co is mainly hosted in sulfides and magnetite, and Sc is mainly occurred in clinopyroxene and ilmenite. In addition, there are different contents of various elements in magnetites, ilmenites and clinopyroxenes from the different layered intrusions. These conclusions are very important for the integrated utilization of V,Ti,Co,Ga,Sc,Cr in the V-Ti magnetite ores, tailings and some kinds of rocks in the Panxi area.
