Inheritance and Innovation:Cockburn's Marxist Feminist View of Technology
Cynthia Cockburn's technology studies is a typical representative of the combination of Marxism and Feminism.Based on Marxist technological thought, she has carried out historical researches on the labor process under the background of technological change from the perspective of feminism.Through the investigation of rele-vant cases such as printing technology, automation technology and domestic technology,Cockburn analyzed the in-teractive relationship of technology, capitalism and patriarchy, and revealed the correlation between technology and masculinity, and the mutual construction of technology and gender. She inherited and innovated Marxist view of technology, especially putting an emphasis on the methodological value of class, gender and other analytical catego-ries,as well as the practicability and politics of technology studies, which formed her own characteristics of tech-nology studies and provided inspiration for improving research in the humanities and social sciences today.
