Moralizing technology is regarded as a new way to regulate technology and human behavior, and has been vigorously advocated. The article takes cultured meat technology as an example to investigate the practical dilemma of this idea. The research and development of cultured meat technology is to solve the current ethical dilemma of meat consumption,so it is considered as a model of moralizing technology:it is conducive to protecting the environ-ment and improving animal welfare;it is beneficial to human's own health and satisfying people's preference for meat. However, attempts to solve"the meat paradox"through moralizing technology are based on linear predictions of modern nutrition and relevant data, and the more fundamental aspects are ignored. The application of this tech-nology in practice may encounter the following three difficulties:first, meat as a social and historical construction, its impact can not only be considered from the nutritional content;secondly, for cultured meat to realize its ethical effects in environmental protection and animal welfare,it is necessary to consider the depth of its integration into various aspects of society, such as culture, economy, and politics;finally,as an important part of social activities, diet is affected by many factors, and the solutions to the meat dilemma are also diverse, requiring us to take many factors into account.
