Space and Its Boundaries——On the Significance of Philosophy of Scientific Practices about Spatial Concept from Leviathan and the Air-Pump
Analyzing Leviathan and the Air-Pump from spatial perspective,is to explore the spatial attributes of knowledge from the perspective of philosophy of scientific practices.Rereading Leviathan and the Air-Pump from the perspective of Space,many things should be argued,such as,under what spatial conditions does experimental practice produce so-called"reliable knowledge"?How does laboratory space generate"facts"?Does the commu-nity have boundaries?The answers to the above questions involve understanding the concept of"space"and its boundary.This paper discusses that the influence of intellectual space on knowledge structure from the perspectives of experimental space and its boundary,the construction of facts and the space boundary of the community,the way by which virtual witness promotes the growth of knowledge recognition space,the epistemological value of instru-ments.Furthermore,the paper suggest that we should pay attention to the spatial attributes of scientific knowledge and call for the study of history of science to increase the awareness of space sensitivity.
