Effect of Gradation on the Performance of Phase Change Asphalt Mixture
Phase change asphalt mixture is a new functional pavement material that can regulate the temperature of asphalt concrete pavement. Two composite-shaped phase change materials(CPCM)of paraffin/expanded graphite/high-density polyethylene(PHDP)and DTC road temperature regulating material were selected.Firstly,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)was used for testing, and qualitative analysis was conducted on the reaction between CPCMs and asphalt.Secondly, phase change asphalt mixtures with grading types AC-16 and AC-20 were prepared, and the impact of different aggregate grading on the road performance and temperature control effect of phase change asphalt mixtures were evaluated through road performance tests and temperature control tests. The results indicate that there is a physical reaction between both types of CPCM and asphalt.Compared to the grading type AC-16,AC-20 can significantly improve the road performance and temperature control effect of phase change asphalt mixtures containing PHDP,but the improvement effect on phase change asphalt mixtures containing DTC is not significant.
