Fracture Network Analysis Using Topological Fractal Methods
The Southern Sichuan region has been subjected to multiple phases and stages of tectonic deformation events, resulting in the formation of a complex and jointed superimposed tectonic deformation zone, accompanied by a well-developed fracture network sys-tem.In order to quantitatively characterize the tectonic deformation intensity in the Yongchuan area, fracture data from the region were extracted.Utilizing topological structure analysis methods, topological indices such as fracture line density and fracture connectivity were applied to quantify the tectonic deformation intensity.Correlation analysis between the quantitative evaluation results and shale gas well productivity was conducted. The analysis indicated that values of fracture line density ranged between 0 and 0.986 × 10-3,show-ing a strong positive correlation with shale gas well productivity;that is,the more developed the fracture network system, the higher the shale gas production. However,at the threshold exceeding 0.986 × 10-3 and within the range of 0.986 × 10-3 to 1.342 × 10-3,an overly developed fracture network system was found to reduce shale gas production.Meanwhile, fracture connectivity exhibited a weak negative correlation with shale gas productivity, indicating that higher fracture connectivity corresponds to lower shale gas production.
