增强现实(augmented reality,AR)眼镜逐渐在教育、医疗、军事等领域被广泛使用,但作为视觉显示设备,AR眼镜也会造成视疲劳现象.已有研究表明长时间使用显示器会造成视疲劳,因此使用对比研究法比较传统显示器和AR眼镜之间的视疲劳差异.研究共招募8名参试者,要求参试者在随机文本中寻找特定的字母"v",在发现目标字符时记录时间及次数.每款设备进行30 min的视觉搜索任务,通过主观视疲劳量表、视敏指标(闪光融合频率、调节近点、视力)以及生理指标(心电、眼电)衡量并比较两款设备的整体视疲劳以及随时间变化的视疲劳规律.结果表明,AR眼镜的视疲劳显著高于传统显示器,AR眼镜出现的视疲劳时间要早于传统显示器,传统显示器的视疲劳随时间变化更加稳定.视觉搜索任务是有效诱发视疲劳的任务,血氧含量、眨眼次数是衡量随时间变化的视疲劳的有效指标,根据视疲劳累计变化规律建议,使用AR眼镜进行高强度视觉搜索任务的时长不要高于10 min.
Visual Fatigue of AR Glasses Based on Visual Search Tasks
AR(augmented reality)glasses are increasingly used in fields such as education,healthcare,and military applications.However,as visual display devices,AR glasses can cause visual fatigue.Previous studies have indicated that prolonged use of displays leads to visual fatigue.A comparative research method was employed to examine the differences in visual fatigue between traditional displays and AR glasses.Eight participants were recruited and tasked with searching for a specific letter"v"in random text,recording the time and occurrences when the target character was found.Each device was used for a 30 min visual search task.Overall visual fa-tigue and its temporal variation were measured and compared using subjective visual fatigue scales,visual acuity indices(critical flicker fusion frequency,near point of accommodation,visual acuity),and physiological indices(electrocardiogram,electrooculo-gram).Results indicate that visual fatigue induced by AR glasses is significantly higher than that induced by traditional displays.Visu-al fatigue appeared earlier with AR glasses,while fatigue from traditional displays exhibited a more stable temporal pattern.The visual search task is found to be effective in inducing visual fatigue.Blood oxygen levels and blink rates are effective indicators of temporal changes in visual fatigue.Based on the cumulative visual fatigue pattern,it is recommended that the duration of high-intensity visual search tasks using AR glasses should not exceed 10 minutes.
