从跟随到引领:后发企业如何通过技术创新模式迭代构建平台生态圈

技术创新模式迭代是后发企业追赶的核心动力,在平台化转型背景下,后发企业通过技术创新模式迭代构建平台生态圈的过程机理未被揭示.鉴于此,以电力行业后发企业——特锐德为案例,探究后发企业如何通过技术创新模式迭代推进阶段演化并最终构建平台生态圈.结果发现:机会窗口是平台生态圈形成的外部动因,动态能力从"初阶—中阶—高阶"的进阶是平台生态圈形成的内在基础,二者动态匹配成为后发企业构建平台生态圈的关键动因;机会窗口和动态能力协同驱动后发企业选择与其发展阶段匹配的技术创新模式,呈现由"利用式—探索式—引领式"的迭代;技术创新模式的迭代驱动后发企业由"业务单点突破—业务跨界衍生—平台生态圈协同"的阶段跃进,并伴随价值创造模式由"聚焦型价值创造—衍生型价值创造—协同型价值共创"的转变,两者的互动共演为后发企业构建平台生态圈提供核心动力.
From Following to Leading:How Latecomers Build a Platform Ecosphere Through the Iteration of Technological Innovation Model
The iteration of technological innovation model is an important path for latecomers to catch up.In the background of platform-based transformation,the process mechanism of latecomers to build platform ecosphere through the iteration of technological innovation model iteration has not been revealed yet.This study takes TGOOD,a latecomer of the power industry,as a case to explore how the latecomer advances the stage of evolution and eventually builds a plat-form ecosphere through the iteration of technological innovation model.It is found that:firstly,the window of opportunity is the external motivation for the latecomer to build a platform ecosphere,the progression of dynamic capabilities is its internal foundation,and the dynamic match between them becomes the key driver for the latecomer to build a platform ecosphere.Second,the window of opportunity and dynamic capabilities drive latecomers to choose their matching technology innovation model,showing the iteration from exploitative to exploratory to leading.Finally,the iteration of technology innovation model drives latecomers to leap from"business single-point breakthrough"to"business cross-border derivation"to"platform ecosphere synergy",accompanied by the transformation of value creation model from"focused value creation"to"derivative value creation"to"synergistic value co-creation".The contributions are as follows:Firstly,the current research on catching up of latecomers mostly focuses on tech-nology catching up.However,insufficient attention has been paid to the technological transformation of latecomers and the advancement of stage evolution through technological innovation.Based on the real situation of the latecomers building platform ecosphere,this study explores the process mechanism for latecomers to achieve"leading",which com-pletes the research on the catch-up path of latecomers.Second,most of the existing studies attribute the stage evolution of latecomers and the construction of the platform ecosphere to a particular aspect of the window of opportunity or manage-ment perception.This study analyzes the evolutionary process of latecomers in building the platform ecosphere from the perspective of the window of opportunity and dynamic capability matching,which deepens the understanding of the enablers of the platform ecosphere evolution.Finally,existing studies mostly explore the dimensions of dynamic capabili-ties at a certain stage or in a specific context.This study regards dynamic capability as a growing capability and provides an in-depth analysis of the dimensions of dynamic capability at each stage of building a platform ecosphere for latecomers,which further enriches the connotation of dynamic capability theory.This study provides practical guidance for latecomers to overcome technological and market disadvantages and build a platform ecosphere.Firstly,the construction of the platform ecosphere needs to be supported by disruptive technologies,and latecomers with market and technological disadvantages cannot carry out disruptive technological innovation at the start-up stage,nor can they afford the high risks it brings.Latecomers can start from the advantageous field,then realize multi-dimensional evolution by extending to the peripheral business,and finally build a platform ecosphere through re-source aggregation.Second,the process of building a platform ecosphere for latecomers should promote the iteration of technological innovation model.It is also important to pay attention to the matching of windows of opportunity and dy-namic capabilities.
