美国诗人埃兹拉·庞德一生推崇儒学,尤其关注孔子.长期以来,研究者多将研究视野置于庞德对儒家思想的接受及儒家典籍翻译上,很少探讨庞德笔下的孔子形象.对庞德而言,孔子不仅是一个文化符号,更是一个令他敬仰的鲜活的人,是一位从圣坛上走下来的仁者、乐者、智者.仁者孔子讲究人的真性情,乐者孔子快乐且热爱音乐,智者孔子是有智慧的哲人.庞德是忠实的儒家弟子,在某种程度上也践行着孔子的仁、乐、智之道.
Abstract
American poet Ezra Pound(1885-1972)was involved with Confucianism for over half a century.It is a result of his great attachment to Confucius.For a long time,Poundian scholars have equated Pound's Confucius writing with Confucianism,rarely discussing the image of Confucius under Pound's pen.For Pound,Confucius was not only a cultural symbol but a living figure that Pound greatly admired.As for Pound,Confucius was a teacher,scholar,and philosopher;moreover,Confucius was also an interesting person who liked music,was frank and came down from the altar to real life.In Pound's words,he is the big man,the Boss.To sum up,Confucius,under Pound's pen,is Ren(a real man),Yue(a happy and musical man),and Zhi(a wise man).The benevolent Confucius pays attention to people's proper disposition,the musical Confucius is happy and loves music,and the wise Confucius possesses philosophical wisdom.Pound was a faithful disciple of Confucianism,and to some extent,he practiced Confucius'principles of Ren,Yue,and Zhi.
