Dual roles of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in the progression of tumors and autoimmune diseases
Plasmacytoid dendritic cells,a distinctive subset within the dendritic cell family, exhibit a unique immunological profile,in that they are pivotal in the body's immune defense, but interestingly, they can also contribute to disease progression and cause potential harm.Recent years have seen a surge in research explor-ing the intricate biological characteristics, immunological functions and pathogenic mechanisms of plasmacy-toid dendritic cells, especially in the context of tumors and autoimmune disorders.Furthermore,immunothera-pies targeting plasmacytoid dendritic cells have also garnered significant attention. This review aimed to delve deeper into the dualistic nature of plasmacytoid dendritic cells, shedding light on their precise mechanisms and ultimately paving the way for novel treatments in related pathological diseases.
