A comparison between clinical efficacy of percutaneous rolling suture and direct suture in the treatment of tendinous mallet finger
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of percutaneous rolling suture on mallet finger tendon. Methods A total of 110 patients with tendinous mallet fingers hospitalized in the Department of Hand and Foot Surgery,The Third Affiliated Hospital of Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2018 to October 2022 were included. They were divided into two groups according to the random number table method. Both groups were treated with percutaneous rolling suture and transstump-end suture combined with Kirschner wire fixation, respectively.Visual analogue scale range of motion and extension of distal interpha-langeal joint amd Dargan functional evaluation system were used to compare the efficacy of the two surgical methods. Results Visual analogue scale scores of patients in both groups were significantly decreased at 3 and 6 months after surgery compared with the level before treatment, with a statistical significance(P<0.01).The range of motion and extension angle of distal interphalangeal joint in the two at 3 and 6 months after operation were significantly different from those before treatment(P<0.001),and the above two indexes of distal inter-phalangeal joint in the two groups were significantly improved after operation. There was a significant differ-ence in the excellent and good rate between the two(P=0.039),i.e.the excellent and good rate of the experi-mental group was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion The surgical method of repairing tendon mallet finger by percutaneous rolling suture is simple and effective.
