Influencing factors for prolonged postoperative hospital stay in patients with colorectal cancer:A Meta-analysis
Objective To determine the factors that contribute to extended hospital stays following colorectal cancer surgery via a Meta-analysis.Methods Chinese and English databases were searched by computer.All the literatures from the establishment of the databases to July 2023 related to the influencing factors of prolonged hospitalization of patients with colorectal cancer and the references of the included literatures were screened,data extracted,and literature quality evaluated by two reviewers independently according to the relevant inclusion and exclusion standards.Review Manager 5.4 software was used to analyze the data.Results A total of 18 studies were included:7 cohort studies,1 case-control study,and 10 cross-sectional stud-ies.There were 10 663 cases with a prolonged postoperative hospital stay and 32 717 without.Male(OR=1.14),advanced age(OR=1.74),American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification system≥3(OR=1.91),diabetes(OR=1.49),hypertension(OR=1.51),ardiovascular disease(OR=1.82),pulmonary disease(OR=1.71),renal disease(OR=1.75),chronic obstructive pulmonary(OR=2.74),operation time≥3 h(OR=1.65),open surgery(OR=3.35),intraoperative blood transfusion(OR=2.06),enterostomy(OR=2.67)and postoperative complications(OR=7.95)were all risk factors for prolonging postoperative hospital stay.Conclusion Clinical medical staff can identify high-risk patients with prolonged hospitalization according to the above risk factors,and thus take early intervention measures to improve the clinical prognosis of patients.
