Analysis of first assistant collaboration in Da Vinci robot operat-ing system:A retrospective study based on 130 cases of digestive system tumor operations
Objective To delve into the significance of collaboration between the first assistant and the prima-ry surgeon in Da Vinci robot-assisted surgeries for digestive system tumors, and to summarize specific cooper-ation experiences with the intention of optimizing surgical procedures and enhancing surgical outcomes. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 130 cases of digestive system tumor surgeries performed using the Da Vinci robot operating system focusing on the specific roles and contributions of the first assistant during preoperative preparation, intraoperative operation assistance, and postoperative reflection and summari-zation,and encompassing preoperative communication, patient assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, surgical positioning and setup design, instrument management, intraoperative technical support, and close co-operation with other members of the surgical team. Results The findings revealed that the first assistant laid a solid foundation for the smooth conduct of surgery through comprehensive communication, meticulous physi-cal examination, complete preoperative assessments, and effective organization of multidisciplinary discus-sions.During the operation, the first assistant played a pivotal role in optimizing patient positioning,ratio-nalizing team setup, precisely preparing surgical instruments, and flexibly assisting the primary surgeon in their manipulations. They also collaborated efficiently with the primary surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurses, and other team members, significantly enhancing surgical safety and efficiency.Postoperatively, the first assis-tant and primary surgeon jointly reviewed surgical videos, deeply analyzed the surgical process, and summa-rized lessons learned, providing valuable directions for improvement and references for future surgical prac-tices.Conclusion The successful implementation of Da Vinci robotic surgery is highly dependent on a close collaboration between the primary surgeon and the first assistant. The professionalism, coordination skills, and active roles of the first assistant throughout the surgical process are invaluable for improving surgical efficiency, ensuring patient safety, and enhancing patient satisfaction.
