Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of recurrent adjacent vertebral fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP).Methods A total of 43 patients with recurrent adjacent vertebral fractures after PVP were trea-ted with secondary PVP and anti-osteoporosis.The fracture healing time, complications, pain VAS and activities of dai-ly living(ADL)score were recorded. Results All patients were followed up for 6~15(6.21±2.35)months.The fracture healing time was 5~8(6.31±1.24)months.Bone cement leakage occurred in 2 cases of intervertebral discs during the operation. No postoperative complications such as incision infection, nerve injury, bone cement loosening, vertebral collapse and fracture occurred.Pain VAS and ADL score:at 1 d and 3 months after operation, they were both better than those before operation(P<0.05).The data of 3 months after operation were better than those of 1 d after operation(P<0.05).At the last follow-up,the chest and back pain of the patients were significantly relieved, the lo-cal tenderness and percussion pain were negative, and the patients could walk autonomously with normal gait.Conclu-sions Secondary PVP and anti-osteoporosis treatment for recurrent adjacent vertebral fractures after PVP can signifi-cantly relieve pain and improve patients′ADL,with satisfactory clinical efficacy.
