Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of the distal pedicle sural neurotrophic vascular flap in re-pairing soft tissue defects of the heel. Methods The twenty-five cases with heel soft tissue defects were repaired with distal pedicled sural neurocutaneous vascular flaps, the flaps were transferred to the recipient area through open chan-nel.The defect area ranged from 4.2 cm×3.6 cm to 9.5 cm×7.0 cm,the flaps designed size was 5.0 cm×4.2 cm~11.5 cm×8.4 cm.Results All patients were followed up for 11~38 months. All flaps survived and the donor site healed in one-stage.At 3 months postoperation, the colour was good, and the texture was soft,no effect on normal shoe wearing,no friction ulcer, with satisfactory appearances. Conclusions The distal pedical sural neurotrophic vas-cular flaps are used to repair the soft tissue defect of the heel, which have the advantages of relatively constant anato-my,simple surgical operation,no sacrifice of the main artery and easy survival of the flap.
