Objective To investigate the effect of proximal femoral nail anti-rotation(PFNA)assisted with temporary fixation for treatment of femoral intertrochanteric via small incision reduction. Methods The 28 cases of femoral in-tertrochanteric fractures were treated by small incision reduction and temporary fixation assisted PFNA.The intraoper-ative blood loss, operation time, fracture reduction quality and fracture healing were recorded.Harris score was used to evaluate hip function. Results All patients were followed up for 6 months. There was no occurrence of incision infec-tion after surgery. The intraoperative bleeding volume was95~110(100.5±8.0)ml,and the surgical time was45~57(50.5±4.5)min.Quality of fracture reduction:anatomical reduction was in20 cases, functional reduction was in5 cases, and poor reduction in 3 cases.Three months after surgery, the Harris scores were 67~95(88.32±8.07)points,of which 20 cases were excellent,5 cases were good, and 3 cases poor, the excellent-good rate was 25/28.All 26 cases of fractures healed in 3~4 months, including 1 case with postoperative hip varus deformity and no screw loosening, and no special treatment was performed at the patient′s request. After surgery, the spiral blade was cut out in 1 case, and 1 case had nonunion, the secondary revision surgeries were considered for treatment. Conclusions Small incision reduction and temporary fixation assisted PFNA are used to treat femoral intertrochanteric fracture, which are simple operation, less trauma, and do not affect the PFNA operation, and can help to increase the holding role of the traction bed, with satisfactory efficacy.
