Objective To investigate the clinical effect of guide-rod visualized foraminoplasty in the treatment of lum-bar disc herniation. Methods The 76 patients with lumbar disc herniation treated by percutaneous foraminoplasty nu-cleus pulposus discetomy were divided into guide-rod visualization group(39 cases treated with visualized foramin-oplasty)and TESSYS group(37 cases treated with transforaminal endoscopic spine system),according to different surgical methods.Surgical indexes, pain VAS and ODI were compared between the two groups. Results All patients were followed up for 6~13 months. There was no statistical difference in hospital stay between the two groups(P>0.05).The frequency of intraoperative fluoroscopy and operation time were less(shorter)in the guide-rod visualiza-tion group than those in the TESSYS group(P<0.05).Pain VAS and ODI:at 3 d postoperation and the last follow-up,both groups were decreased than those before surgery(P<0.05);there were no statistical differences in postoper-ative various time-point between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions It is a safe and effective foraminoplasty technique for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation,guide-rod visualized foraminoplasty can reduce the frequency of intraoperative fluoroscopy, shorten the operation time, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of foraminoplasty.
