Objective To investigate the effect of locking plate in the treatment of distal radius fracture. Methods The 16 cases of distal radius fractures were treated with locking plate. The operation status, fracture healing,postopera-tive complications and wrist motion range were recorded.Gartland-Werley score criterion was used to evaluate wrist function. Results The operation time was 30~50(42.8±6.7)min,the intraoperative blood loss was 10~30(17.6±7.4)ml,and the hospitalization time was 3~6(4.5±1.2)d.All patients were followed up for 12~15(13.2±0.9)months.The time of callus formation was 1~3 months, and healing time was 4~6 months. There were no complications such as infection, nonunion, internal fixation loosening, carpal tunnel syndrome and median neuritis. At 6 months postoperation, wrist motion:palmar flexion was 30°~45°(38.8°±5.2°),dorsiflexion was 35°~45°(40.5°±4.1°),radial declination was 10°~25°(15.3°±2.8°),ulnar declination was 10°~20°(15.7°±3.2°).The wrist function assessed with Gartland-Werley score criterion:excellent in 12 cases, good in 2,fair in 1,poor in 1,the excellent-good rate was 14/16.Conclusions The use of locking plate in the treatment of distal radius fracture can significantly restore the wrist function, with reliable fixation, and fewer complications.
