Objective To investigate the effect of elastic intramedullary nail fixation in the treatment of children with ulnoradial shaft fracture. Methods The 32 children with ulnoradial shaft fractures were treated with elastic intramed-ullary nail fixation. Results All patients were followed up for 4~12 months.Anatomical reduction was observed in 13 cases and functional reduction were obtained in 19 cases. All incisions healed well.Callus formation time was 2~4 weeks. All fractures healed within 6~12 weeks. There were no postoperative complications such as incision infec-tion,nonunion and fracture fragment displacement.Superficial radial nerve injuries occurred in 2 cases.Skin irritation of nail tail occurred in 3 cases,of which 1 case of nail tail penetrated the skin.At the last follow-up,elbow flexion was 135°~145°(138.41°±2.52°)and extension was 0°~10°(2.35°±0.78°);forearm pronation was 80°~90°(85.67°±3.52°),pronation was 80°~90°(84.25°±2.68°).Conclusions Elastic intramedullary nail fixation in the treatment of children with ulnoradial shaft fracture has the advantages of less trauma, fast recovery and good clini-cal effect.
