Objective To investigate the clinical effect of total knee arthroplasty(TKA)in patients with severe varus deformity of knee. Methods Twenty-one patients with severe varus deformity of knees were treated with TKA.AKS score of knee joint function,hip-knee-ankle angle(HKA),and knee flexion range of motion(ROM)were compared before and after arthroplasty. Results All cases were followed up for 2~7 years. The postoperative pain was signifi-cantly reduced or completely eliminated, and X-ray examination showed that the knee varus deformity was effectively corrected. At the last follow-up,the HKA,knee flexion ROM,and AKS scores were all greater(higher)than before surgery(P<0.05).Conclusions TKA for severe varus deformity of knee is satisfactory with lower limb alignment correction, joint activity recovery is good, and function is satisfactory.
