Aplication of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells combined with hyperbaric oxy-gen in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament combined with cartilage injuries
Objective To investigate the clinical application effect of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells(UC-MSCs)combined with hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)combined with cartilage injuries. Methods The 59 patients with ACL combined with cartilage injuries of knee joint were treated with ACL reconstruction under arthroscopy, and they were divided into observation group(treated with UC-MSCs com-bined with HBO,27 cases)and control group(treated without UC-MSCs combined with HBO,32 cases),according to whether they were treated with UC-MSCs combined with HBO after surgery. Results All patients were followed up for 12~18(15.1±2.1)months.The pain VAS of the two groups at 3,6 and 12 months after surgery was lower than that before surgery(P<0.05),and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).Lysholm and Tenger scores at 3,6 and 12 months after surgery were higher than those before surgery(P<0.05).Three months af-ter surgery, there was no statistical difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The observation group was higher than the control group at 6,12 months after operation(P<0.05).At the last follow-up,there were no statistical differences in knee extension and flexion motion between the two groups(P>0.05).After UC-MSCs injection in the observation group, knee pain and swelling were in 3 cases and fever in 2 cases. Conclusions After ACL reconstruc-tion,UC-MSCs combined with HBO in the treatment of ACL combined with cartilage injuries of knee joint have satisfac-tory clinical effect, which are conducive to promoting the functional recovery of affected limb and returning to exercise.
