Objective To investigate the effect of poking reduction and internal fixation for the treatment of elderly femoral intertrochanteric fracture. Methods The 72 cases of elderly femoral intertrochanteric fractures were treated with poking reduction and internal fixation.Operation time, the status of fracture reduction, occurrence of complica-tions,fracture healing time, range of hip motion were recorded;hip function was evaluated by Harris score. Results All patients were followed up for 12~24 months. The postoperative X-ray film showed that all fractures reached ana-tomical reduction. The operative time was 25~50 min, including 2~5 min for poking reduction through the auxiliary incision. There were no postoperative complications such as heart failure, lower extremity venous thrombosis and deliri-um.All fractures healed within 7~10 months. At the last follow-up,hip flexion was 110°~135°,and hyperextension was 5°~15°.The Harris score of the hip joint was 70~95 points,of which 64 cases were excellent,6 cases were good, and 2 cases fair, with an excellent-good rate of 97.2%.Conclusions Poking reduction and internal fixation for elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures can make fast anatomical reduction of fractures, effectively shorten the operation time, and are more conducive to the recovery of hip function.
