Application of three-dimensional printing guide plate assisted screw placement for treatment of ankylosing spondylitis complicated with thoracolumbar fractures
Objective To investigate the application effect of three-dimensional(3D)printing guide plate assisted screw placement in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis(AS)complicated with thoracolumbar fractures.Methods The 17 patients who suffered from AS complicated with thoracolumbar fractures were divided into 3D printing group(9 cases were treated with 3D printing guide plate assisted screw placement)and traditional group(8 cases were treated with traditional free hand screw placement)according to whether 3D printing technique was used.The intraop-erative bleeding volume,surgical time,postoperative drainage volume,braces removal time,fracture healing time,weight-bearing status and gait were compared between the two groups.The screw placement parameters before and af-ter surgery in the 3D printing group were compared.Results All patients were followed up for 1 year.The intraopera-tive blood loss,operation time and postoperative drainage volume were all less(shorter)than the traditional group(P<0.01).There were no statistical differences in the braces removal time,fracture healing time(P>0.05).In the 3D printing group,the various screwing parameters of preoperative planning and intraoperative measurement had no differences(P>0.05).At the last follow-up,patients in both groups recovered well,and could walk with weight-bear-ing,with normal gait.Conclusions In the treatment of AS complicated with thoracolumbar fractures,3D printing guide plate assisted screw placement can improve the accuracy of screw placement,reduce the intraoperative bleeding volume and shorten the operation time.
