Comparison of the efficacy of two patellar treatment methods in total knee arthroplasty
Objective To compare the efficacy of patellar replacement and patellar plasty combined with denervation in total knee arthroplasty(TKA).Methods A total of 60 patients with knee osteoarthritis treated with TKA were di-vided into observation group(intraoperative patellar replacement was performed)and control group(intraoperative patellar plasty combined with denervation was performed)according to different patellar treatment methods, with 30 cases in each group. The range of motion of knee flexion and complications were recorded, and the efficacy was evalu-ated by KSS clinical score and artificial forgotten joint score(FJS).Results All patients were followed up for 12 months. At 12 months postoperation, the KSS clinical score and knee flexion activity of the two groups were improved, compared with those before operation(P<0.05),and there were no differences between two groups(P>0.05).At postoperative 12 months,FJS of the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05),and the inci-dence rate of knee anterior region pain in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions In the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with TKA using PS prosthesis, both patellar replacement and pa-tellar plasty combined with denervation can achieve good clinical efficacy, but patellar replacement has the advantages of higher FJS and lower incidence rate of knee anterior region pain.
