Total knee arthroplasty for treatment of varus knee osteoarthritis
Objective To investigate the efficacy of total knee arthroplasty(TKA)in the treatment of varus knee oste-oarthritis(KOA).Methods A total of 52 patients with varus KOA were treated with TKA.Surgical outcomes,compli-cations occurrence conditions, varus angles, pain VAS,KSS score of knee joint were recorded. Results All patients were followed up for 10~15(12.6±1.9)months.The operation time was 75~90(82.7±6.2)min,the intraopera-tive blood loss was 40~80(65.5±10.2)ml,and the hospital stay was 4~8(5.3±1.5)d.Deep vein thrombosis of lower extremity occurred in 1 case.No case suffered from infection, deep vein thrombosis, prosthesis loosening, periprosthetic fracture and other complication. At the last follow-up,there was no swelling of the knee, with normal range of motion and gait of the knee joint,no sensation and abnormal blood circulation of the affected limb.Varus an-gle,pain VAS,KSS clinical score and functional score were improved, compared with those before operation(P<0.05).Conclusions TKA can effectively correct the lower limb alignment, relieve the knee joint pain, and improve the knee function in varus KAO patients.
