Objective To compare the effects of locking loop plate and clavicle hook plate fixation in the treatment of acromioclavicular joint dislocation. Methods The 36 patients with Rockwood type Ⅲ acromioclavicular dislocation were divided into two groups based on different fixation methods:the locking loop plate group and the clavicle hook plate group, with 18 cases in each group. The intraoperative bleeding volume, incision length, surgical time, pain VAS,Constant score of the shoulder joint function, complications were recorded, and the therapeutic effect was evaluated by using the Karlsson score for acromioclavicular dislocation. Results All patients were followed up for 12~18 months. The intraoperative bleeding volume and incision length in the locking loop plate were less(shorter)than those in the clavicle hook plate group(P<0.05),and there was no statistical difference in surgical time between the two groups(P>0.05).One year after surgery, there was no statistical difference in pain VAS between the two groups(P>0.05),while the Constant score was higher in the locking loop plate group than that in the clavicle hook plate group(P<0.05);the Karlsson score showed a higher of excellent-good rate of therapeutic effect in the locking loop plate group, compared to the clavicle hook plate group(P<0.05).Both groups had no complications such as infection,fail-ure of internal fixation, stress fractures or re-dislocation.Conclusions Compared with clavicle hook plate, the treat-ment of Rockwood Ⅲ acromioclavicular dislocation with locking loop plate fixation has advantages such as small inci-sion,less bleeding, good shoulder joint function recovery, and no need for secondary surgical removal.
