Objective To investigate the effect of proximal femoral nail anti-rotation(PFNA)for treatment of elderly femoral intertrochanteric fracture. Methods The 50 elderly patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures were trea-ted with PFNA.Surgical conditions, fracture healing status, pain VAS and Harris score of hip function were recorded. Results All patients were followed up for 10~14 months. The operative time was 40~75(64.2±8.8)min,the in-traoperative blood loss was 45~100(76.5±10.2)ml,the intraoperative fluoroscopy frequency was 10~20(13.2±2.1)times,and the hospital stay was 5~10(7.4±1.8)d.The callus formation time of the other patients was 1.5~3.0(2.2±0.3)months,except 1 case was performed secondary operation due to the internal fixation failure, and the time of fracture healing was4.0~5.0(4.3±0.4)months.At the last follow-up,the pain VAS was0~2(1.2±0.2)points.The Harris scores of hip function was 55~90(82.1±7.2)points,of which 12 cases were excellent,18 good,13 fair, and 7 poor. Conclusions PFNA treatment of elderly femoral intertrochanteric fracture is reliable, which can improve hip function, the clinical effect is accurate.
