Comparison of the effects of carvedilol and metoprolol on cardiac function in maintenance hemodialysis patients
Objective To compare the effects of carvedilol and metoprolol on cardiac function in maintenance hemo-dialysis patients. Methods A total of 64 patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis treatment in the 907th Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Joint Logistics Support Force from February 2022 to March 2023 were selected and divided into carvedilol group and metoprolol group according to random number table method, with 32 patients in each group.Metopro-lol group was treated with metoprolol, carvedilol group was treated with carvedilol, both groups were treated continuously for 6 months. The cardiac function indexes(LVEDD,IVSD,LVEF,6MWD),oxidative stress indexes(SOD,MDA,GSH-Px)before and after treatment, and adverse reactions of two groups were compared. Results After 6 months of treatment,LVEDD,IVSD and MDA levels in two groups were decreased,LVEF,SOD and GSH-Px levels were increased,6MWD was prolonged, and the change range of carvedilol group was greater than metoprolol group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between carvedilol group and metoprolol group(9.38%vs.15.63%,χ2=0.143,P=0.705).Conclusion Carvedilol is more effective than metoprolol in maintenance hemodialysis treatment, can effectively improve patients'heart function, reduce oxidative stress reaction, and has high safety.
