Abstract
Objective Application value of observation language and visual space abnormality detection in predicting cognitive dysfunc-tion of young and middle-aged type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods This study was a prospective analysis.Eighty young and middle-aged type 2 diabetic patients admitted to Cangzhou People's Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were observed. The screening result of Montreal cogni-tive assessment(MoCA)scale was used as the grouping basis, and diabetes with cognitive dysfunction patients and simple diabetes patients were respectively divided into the observation group(<26 points,n=47)and the control group(≥26 points,n=33).The gender, age, body mass index, blood pressure(systolic and diastolic)levels, educational level, course of disease, and comorbidities[coronary heart disease,hyperten-sion,stroke,obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)]of the two groups of participants were recorded. The MoCA scores, visual spatial and language proficiency scores of two groups of patients were tested and compared. And the correlation between them and cognitive dys-function in young and middle-aged people with type 2 diabetes mellitus was analyzed. Results There were significant differences in age, body mass index, education level, course of disease, and the rate of OSAHS between the two groups(P<0.05).The MoCA scores and total scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The visual space and language ability scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Pearson correlation coefficient found that the MoCA score was positively correlated with the total scores of vis-ual space, reading, writing, listening comprehension, retelling, and language ability(r=0.840,0.849,0.859,0.857,0.867,0.892,P<0.05).The results of MoCA scale were taken as independent variables,view-space score and total language function score were taken as depend-ent variables, and stepwise regression analysis was performed.View-space score and total language function score had significant positive predic-tive effect on the total score of MoCA scale(P<0.05).Conclusion The cognitive function of middle-aged and young patients with type 2 dia-betes mellitus is affected by age, educational level, course of disease and OSAHS.Moreover, the detection of language and visual spatial abnor-malities can be used as an important tool for the positive prediction of cognitive impairment in young and middle-aged people with type 2 diabetes mellitus, which has high clinical value.
